Benghazi – Monday, 29 December 2025 His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Hweij, chaired a meeting this afternoon at the Ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi, dedicated to following up on the work of the National Committee concerned with Community Schools and Foreign Schools, and reviewing the latest developments in its activities. During the meeting, His Excellency emphasized the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations governing the work of foreign institutions and individuals, and the necessity of rectifying and regularizing the status of community and foreign schools in accordance with the applicable legislation. He noted that institutions which take the initiative to regularize their legal status will be granted the necessary facilitation within the limits permitted by law. The Minister also listened to a briefing presented by the Chair and members of the Committee regarding the outcomes of their meeting with the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, which addressed the follow-up on the status of community schools and schools accredited for foreign education, as well as the mechanisms for regulating their work in line with the approved laws and regulations. At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency commended the efforts exerted by the Committee, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation among the relevant authorities, in a manner that contributes to the development and quality of this work, while ensuring full respect for national laws.
