Benghazi – Wednesday, 17 December 2025 This morning, at the headquarters of the Ministry in the city of Benghazi, H.E. Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, received Mr. Khaled Bekdash, President of the International Organization for Press and Media in the Netherlands. During the meeting, a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed, foremost among them the pivotal role of professional media in supporting national causes and promoting responsible media discourse. The meeting also addressed prospects for developing cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the International Organization for Press and Media, particularly in the fields of external media and international communication. In this context, H.E. the Minister emphasized the importance of media as a strategic tool for conveying the true image of Libya to international public opinion, stressing the need to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and credibility, and to support national efforts aimed at enhancing stability and building state institutions. For his part, the President of the International Organization for Press and Media expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, commending the role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and affirming the organization’s readiness to strengthen joint cooperation in a manner that contributes to supporting Libyan media and enhancing its presence at both the regional and international levels.
