Benghazi – Wednesday, 17 December 2025 This morning, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government received students of the Faculty of International Relations (Department of Political Science and Diplomatic Studies) at the Libyan British University, as part of a practical training program aimed at enabling students to gain insight into the nature of diplomatic work and the mechanisms of workflow within the Ministry. The students were accompanied during the visit by the President of the Libyan British University, Professor Dr. Ramadan Ahmed Al-Magrab, and the Head of the Department of International Relations at the University, Professor Khaled Al-Dersi. At the outset of the meeting, H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, welcomed the students and the accompanying delegation, emphasizing the importance of openness to academic institutions and their role in preparing national competencies. His Excellency also referred to the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and the Libyan British University, which would include cooperation in the field of practical training within the Ministry. The Minister affirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to provide specialized training programs and to organize introductory lectures that contribute to qualifying students for work in the fields of diplomacy and international relations, in a manner that enhances national capacity-building and supports the students’ academic and professional paths. This visit comes within the context of strengthening the practical aspect of academic training and linking theoretical knowledge with field practice, thereby contributing to supporting the students’ academic progress and assisting them in fulfilling training requirements and graduation projects, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation No. (501) of 2010 concerning the organization of education in Libyan universities.
