The session was attended by high-level figures, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Niger, along with a select group of experts and officials concerned with security and stability issues across the African continent. During his intervention, the Minister reaffirmed the Libyan Government’s steadfast commitment to supporting stabilization efforts in the Sahel and Great Lakes regions. He emphasized that Libya’s national security is closely linked to the security of its southern neighborhood, and that any threats emerging in these areas have direct repercussions on Libya and the wider region. His Excellency also highlighted the pivotal role played by the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces in securing Libya’s vast southern borders and countering various cross-border threats, including terrorism, organized crime, human trafficking networks, and irregular migration. In this context, he recalled Libya’s decisive battle against blind terrorism during Operation Dignity, when black flags flew over Benghazi, Derna, Sirte, and several other Libyan cities before the land was liberated and Libyan citizens were protected from extremist groups. He stressed that, following this critical battle, Libya is now engaged in another equally important struggle: the battle for reconstruction, development, and national reconciliation. In conclusion, the Minister underscored the need to strengthen Africa–Africa cooperation and develop joint coordination mechanisms among regional states, noting that confronting escalating challenges requires a collective vision and close coordination that supports security, development, and stability in both the short and long term.
