Prime Minister Affirms that the Official Gateway for Foreign Organizations’ Work is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

The Prime Minister, Dr. Osama Hammad, participated today, Wednesday, in a ceremony held in Benghazi marking the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Libyan Red Crescent Society, in the presence of the President of the Administrative Control Authority, Khaled Najm, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwaij, the Minister of Interior, Major General Issam Abu Zriba, the Head of the Internal Security Agency, Lieutenant General Osama Al-Darsi, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdulsalam Aqila, along with the President of the Libyan Red Crescent Society, the Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, and a number of heads and members of diplomatic missions and international and regional organizations, in addition to a host of officials from various sectors, institutions, and local organizations.
In his address during the ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed his delight in participating in this significant national and humanitarian occasion, praising the pivotal role played by the Libyan Red Crescent Society since its establishment in embodying the values of humanity, generosity, and solidarity. He affirmed that the Society will remain an independent, unified, and humanitarian institution representing all Libyans without exception, operating under the national banner and committed to the principles of neutrality, humanity, and independence.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by members and volunteers of the Libyan Red Crescent during Storm Daniel, offering prayers for those who lost their lives in the line of duty while performing humanitarian missions to rescue those trapped and affected by floods and torrential rains.
He commended the Society’s efforts in assisting and providing relief to displaced persons and those affected during the war on terrorism in Benghazi and Sirte, as well as its role in the major exercise “Responders,” conducted in Derna in cooperation with the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, emphasizing that it served as a successful model of coordination and integration among national institutions in the fields of rescue, relief, and disaster management.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of all international organizations and institutions operating in Libya, foremost among them the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and its affiliated agencies, complying with national laws and regulations governing their activities and respecting Libya’s sovereignty. He noted that the implementation of humanitarian projects and programs inside the country must be carried out in prior coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to ensure the proper organization of humanitarian work and the unification of efforts.
He further emphasized that all relief and humanitarian assistance programs, whether during disasters or in response to displacement caused by conflicts and wars in neighboring countries, must be executed in full coordination with the Libyan Red Crescent Society, as the national civil authority legally mandated to manage humanitarian affairs within Libya.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister extended his deep appreciation and gratitude to the President, members, and volunteers of the Libyan Red Crescent Society, commending their dedication and selflessness in serving the nation, and praying that God grants them success in fulfilling their humanitarian mission and blesses Libya with security, peace, and prosperity.
