Opening of the “Sudanese Brotherhood School” in the City of Al Marj Reflects the Libyan Government’s Concern for the Sudanese Community and Strengthens Bilateral Relations Between the Two Countries Al Marj – Thursday, November 6, 2025 Under the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Dr. Osama Hammad — who emphasized the importance of caring for foreign communities residing in Libya — His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwaij, today oversaw the inauguration of the “Sudanese Brotherhood School” in the city of Al Marj. This event comes as part of the continuous support provided by the Libyan Government and the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces to the Sudanese brothers and sisters displaced by the difficult humanitarian conditions resulting from the war in their homeland. In his speech on the occasion, His Excellency the Minister stated that “wars bring destruction and suffering, while enlightened minds build the future of peace,” stressing that education is a fundamental pillar in rebuilding human beings, and calling on members of the Sudanese community to join their educational institutions and resume their studies. The Minister pointed out that this school is the sixth of its kind to be opened for the Sudanese community in Libya, following similar schools in Benghazi, Ajdabiya, Jalu, and Kufra — reflecting the government’s commitment to providing an appropriate educational environment that ensures the continuation of Sudanese students’ learning. Dr. Al-Huwaij also reaffirmed the Libyan Government’s policy based on the principle of “zero problems” with other countries, and on non-alignment except in support of just causes — foremost among them, the interest of Sudan and the unity of its territory. He called on all Sudanese parties to favor dialogue, renounce bloodshed, and engage in a process leading to lasting peace and comprehensive development. The Minister added that the scope of initiatives and practical steps taken by the Libyan Government and the General Command toward the Sudanese brothers exceeds what other international bodies have done in terms of care and on-the-ground support, affirming that this approach stems from the historical and fraternal bonds between the two peoples. In conclusion, His Excellency emphasized the Libyan Government’s rejection of any attempts to resettle migrants of various nationalities inside Libya, while welcoming Sudanese brothers to regularize their status in accordance with national laws governing residence, employment, education, and commercial activity.
