Benghazi – Wednesday, April 29, 2026 As part of efforts to enhance the institutional capacities of the diplomatic system and to reinforce the principle of equal opportunities among citizens, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, issued Decision No. (36) of 2026 concerning the reconstitution of the committee responsible for the admission of new diplomatic attachés to the Ministry. During the ceremony marking the handover of the decision, His Excellency affirmed the continuation of efforts aimed at advancing political and consular work by selecting qualified candidates who meet the approved professional and academic standards. He also emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for candidates from southern Libya to join the Diplomatic Studies Institute, thereby reinforcing the principles of justice and equal opportunity. The Minister further instructed the committee to complete its tasks within the specified timeframe, no later than June 1, 2026, ensuring the proper conduct of the admission process in accordance with the established regulations. He noted that, for the first time, the intake will be geographically distributed, with thirty students enrolled in Benghazi and twenty students at the Institute’s branch in Sabha. This step reflects a strategic direction toward achieving regional balance and promoting equality across all regions of Libya. The decision was officially received by H.E. Ambassador Abdulsalam Al-Raqi‘i, Director of the African Affairs Department, in his capacity as Chairman of the Admission Committee for the third cohort of new diplomatic attachés, in preparation for commencing the committee’s duties in accordance with its designated mandate.
