Benghazi – Monday, April 27, 2026 H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, chaired this morning the seventeenth meeting of the Diplomatic Studies Institute in the city of Benghazi. The meeting was attended by the Institute’s administration, a number of its staff members, as well as representatives of relevant departments, within the framework of متابعة سير العمل وتطوير برامج التأهيل الدبلوماسي (monitoring workflow and enhancing diplomatic training programs). The meeting commenced with an opening address by H.E. the Minister, in which he emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional work and elevating the Institute’s performance, considering it a key pillar in preparing and qualifying diplomatic cadres. He also stressed the need to continue working in a spirit of teamwork. The meeting addressed a number of organizational items, including the approval of the graduation ceremony date for the second batch of diplomatic attachés, scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2026. It also reaffirmed the importance of organizing continuous training programs for ministry staff and enhancing the Institute’s role as a national center of expertise in diplomatic training, protocol, and etiquette. In the context of expanding training and qualification efforts, it was announced that applications for the third batch of diplomatic attachés will open in the coming period. Additionally, new classrooms have been approved in the city of Sabha for the first time, alongside the continuation of training activities in Benghazi for the third consecutive year. This step aims to promote equal opportunities and broaden access to diplomatic training programs across different regions.
