Benghazi – Thursday, April 23, 2026 Based on the directives of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, and within the framework of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Libya and African countries, a meeting was held today at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting brought together the Director of the African Affairs Department, H.E. Ambassador Abdul Salam Al-Raqii, and Dr. Tarek Najm, a member of the International Cooperation Office at the University of Benghazi, in the presence of several department staff members. The meeting discussed ways to support Libyan talents, including students and researchers, in African scientific forums, contributing to the enhancement of research and academic collaboration between Libyan institutions and their counterparts in African universities. It also explored the possibility of organizing a scientific conference within Libya, as well as strengthening Libya’s participation and representation in scientific seminars and conferences at both African and international levels. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and intensifying joint efforts to support scientific research and develop youth capacities, in a manner that serves the path of scientific development in Libya and enhances its presence and standing within the African sphere.
