Benghazi – Tuesday, April 22, 2026 In the context of activating economic diplomacy and strengthening partnership mechanisms with international stakeholders, and upon the directives of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, the Director of the European Department at the Ministry, Dr. Jamil Bouodhen, accompanied by the Head of the Northern Europe Division, participated in the official dinner hosted by the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce. The event was held on the sidelines of the “Libya Build Exhibition” in the city of Benghazi. This occasion served as a platform for direct engagement and exchange of views between economic and institutional actors from Libya and Italy. It witnessed high-level participation, including a number of government officials and private sector representatives, notably the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Mr. Gianluca Alberini, the President of the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Nicola Colicchi, and the President of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mr. Monem Al-Saiti, along with a distinguished group of business leaders and investors. During the meeting, Dr. Bouodhen conveyed the greetings of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the private sector’s engagement in the dynamics of international cooperation and enhancing the business environment in line with the aspirations of the Libyan-Italian partnership. He also emphasized the importance of developing economic and trade cooperation mechanisms and facilitating access to investments, in a manner that contributes to achieving economic integration and creating promising opportunities for mutual growth. This meeting comes within the framework of an integrated approach aimed at establishing sustainable economic partnerships and reinforcing Libya’s position as a reliable partner in its regional and international environment, particularly within the Mediterranean space.
