Sebha – April 22, 2026 The city of Sebha hosted a scientific seminar titled “The Role of African Languages in Enhancing International Understanding and Diplomatic Relations.” The event was organized under the supervision of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Sebha, in collaboration with Sebha University, represented by its Language Center, and with the participation of the African Research and Studies Center. This seminar comes within the framework of promoting cultural openness and strengthening bridges of communication among peoples. It witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in cultural and diplomatic affairs, who emphasized the central role of language as a tool for fostering rapprochement and mutual understanding among nations. Participants addressed several key themes, most notably the role of languages in cultural dialogue, highlighting the importance of African languages in transmitting cultural heritage and enhancing interaction among societies. They also discussed African cultural diplomacy, underlining the use of language as a form of soft power in building international relations, in addition to exploring ways to strengthen regional cooperation through linguistic and cultural integration in support of partnerships across the African continent.
