Madrid – Monday, 20 April 2026 His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwaij, received this afternoon in the Spanish capital, Madrid, Mr. Josu Jon Imaz, Chief Executive Officer of Repsol Oil Services Company, one of Libya’s most prominent economic partners. This meeting comes within the framework of strengthening prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides, particularly in the economic field, and emphasizing the importance of the role played by international companies in corporate social responsibility, especially in the areas where the company operates in southern Libya. During the meeting, the CEO praised the role carried out by the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, as well as the efforts exerted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in consolidating security and stability, which has contributed to achieving tangible development on the ground. He also commended the efforts of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, and his pivotal role in supporting stability and strengthening security foundations. Both sides also affirmed the depth of relations between Libya and the Kingdom of Spain, and the shared Mediterranean space that unites both countries, in addition to mutual economic interests that constitute a solid foundation for enhancing bilateral cooperation. At the end of the meeting, the CEO expressed his desire to undertake an official working visit to the city of Benghazi, aiming to expand areas of cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, and to strengthen partnership in the field of energy security.
