Benghazi – Monday, 20 April 2026 As part of the implementation of the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwaij, aimed at strengthening economic diplomacy pathways, the third preparatory meeting for the Libyan–European Economic Forum – Benghazi was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting coincided with the second session with Libyan businessmen, within the framework of ongoing preparations for this important economic event. The meeting was chaired by the Director of the European Affairs Department, Dr. Jameel Bouodan, in the presence of members of the coordinating committee, the Head of the Central Europe Section, Ms. Retaj Al-Unaizi, Mr. Al-Hassan Al-Kharsh, as well as a number of Libyan businessmen and representatives of national companies. The meeting addressed the preliminary organizational arrangements for the forum, emphasizing the importance of defining Libyan participation priorities and strengthening coordination mechanisms to ensure high-quality and effective representation of the private sector. It also reviewed the rules and procedures related to the registration of companies and institutions wishing to participate, in addition to discussing ways to facilitate the participation of European partners, particularly through the simplification of logistical and organizational aspects. The Department of European Affairs affirmed that this forum represents a strategic framework for enhancing economic cooperation with European countries, and an important platform for opening new horizons in investment, trade exchange, and technology transfer, in a way that serves mutual interests. This meeting is part of a series of ongoing preparatory consultations aimed at completing all organizational arrangements, ensuring the successful hosting of an economic forum that reflects Libya’s orientation towards building effective and sustainable international partnerships.
