Benghazi – Wednesday, April 15, 2026 The second preparatory meeting for the “Libyan-European Economic Forum – Benghazi” was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi. This meeting marked the first coordination session with Libyan business leaders, in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and as part of the ongoing preparations to organize the forum in the upcoming period. The meeting was chaired by the Director of the European Affairs Department, Dr. Jamil Bououzn, with the participation of members of the coordinating committee, including the Head of the Central Europe Section, Ms. Ritaj Al-Enezi, and the Head of the Eastern Europe Section, Mr. Ahmed Al-Maqsabi, in addition to a number of businessmen and representatives of Libyan companies. The meeting focused on discussing the initial arrangements for the forum at both the technical and thematic levels. Participants discussed the priorities of Libyan participation and mechanisms to enhance coordination among the relevant stakeholders, as well as the distribution of organizational roles to ensure effective private sector engagement that reflects its capabilities and contributes to the success of this economic event. The European Affairs Department emphasized that the forum represents a strategic platform to connect Libyan companies with their European counterparts and to open new avenues for cooperation in investment, trade, and technology transfer, thereby supporting the national economy and strengthening international partnerships. For their part, the business community expressed their full readiness to contribute to the success of the forum, whether through participation or sponsorship, stressing the importance of continuous coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure achieving practical outcomes that serve mutual interests. This meeting comes as part of a series of preparatory sessions aimed at finalizing the arrangements and organizing an economic forum that reflects Libya’s standing and keeps pace with its aspirations for effective and balanced international partnerships.
