Benghazi – Monday, 13 April 2026 As part of the Libyan government’s follow-up on the course of Libyan–Sudanese relations and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwij, conducted a field visit to monitor the launch of the secondary school final examinations for Sudanese students residing in Libya, in coordination with the Consulate General of the Republic of Sudan. The visit was held in the presence of the Consul General of the Republic of Sudan in Benghazi, as well as the National Committee for Community Schools and Foreign Schools. The tour included the examination centers, where the Libyan British University hosted the examinations for male students, while the Faculty of Electrical Technology hosted the examinations for female students, amid well-organized administrative and logistical arrangements. In his remarks on this occasion, the Minister affirmed the commitment of the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the Libyan government headed by Dr. Osama Hammad, to providing a suitable environment for the educational process and overcoming all obstacles that may face members of the Sudanese community. He also praised the level of coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations under appropriate conditions. The Minister further explained that the Libyan state has provided a package of facilitations for the Sudanese community, including exemption from overstay fines on the condition that their legal status is regularized within specified deadlines. He also noted the issuance of approximately thirty thousand passports in coordination with the Sudanese Consulate, in addition to the opening of fifteen schools following the Sudanese curriculum across various Libyan cities, free of charge. He also pointed out the facilitation of transportation for nearly two thousand male and female students from different Libyan cities to Benghazi to sit for their examinations, in a step that reflects the humanitarian and educational dimension of the role played by the Libyan state toward its Sudanese brothers. In conclusion, the Minister expressed his wishes for the return of security and stability to the sisterly Republic of Sudan, the end of the war, and the beginning of a phase of reconstruction, in a way that enhances regional stability and enables Sudan to restore its role within its Arab and African surroundings.
