Benghazi – Friday, March 13, 2026 As part of its ongoing Ramadan program of hosting political salons, and within its efforts to promote societal dialogue as called for by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government organized its third Ramadan salon under the title: “National Reconciliation and Its Role in Achieving Stability, Ending Division, and Building the State.” The salon witnessed the participation of a number of professors, academics, researchers, and individuals interested in public affairs. Several academic papers were presented, addressing key themes including hate speech and the impact of media discourse on shaping public opinion, the concept of national reconciliation and its importance in addressing the consequences of division, as well as the role of intellectuals, media professionals, and political actors in supporting the path of national reconciliation and promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance within society. The floor was also opened for discussion among academics, specialists, and participants, leading to a scientific and intellectual exchange that explored various perspectives and approaches to strengthening national reconciliation and consolidating the foundations of stability, in a way that supports state-building efforts and reinforces its institutions. This salon is part of a series of political salons that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has consistently organized over several years. These initiatives have served as a platform for national dialogue and the exchange of ideas among academic and intellectual elites, covering various regions of Libya—from east to west and from north to south—in an effort to enhance intellectual convergence and build bridges of understanding among different components of Libyan society, thereby supporting stability and promoting the prospects of comprehensive national reconciliation.
