Benghazi – Sunday, March 8, 2026 In coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, a meeting was held on Sunday in the city of Benghazi. The meeting brought together the Head of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, Major General Salah Al-Khafeefi; the Consul General of the Republic of Chad in Benghazi, Mr. Hassan Ahmed Daissari, accompanied by the Consulate Attaché, Mr. Omar Yousko Togol; in the presence of the Director of the Consular Affairs Department, Mr. Mansour Boujnat; the Director of the Benghazi Protocol Office, Mr. Adel Al-Farsi; and Mr. Mohammed Al-Sharif, Head of the Border Crossings Department. This meeting comes within the framework of the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in coordination with the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, to address the conditions of irregular migrants from the friendly Republic of Chad. It also aimed at discussing mechanisms to establish joint cooperation between the Libyan and Chadian sides to regulate the entry of Chadian nationals into Libyan territory through official state channels, in accordance with applicable laws and procedures. The Consul General, accompanied by the Director of the Benghazi Protocol Office, also visited Chadian nationals residing at the Anti-Illegal Immigration shelter center in the Qanfouda area of Benghazi. The visit aimed to assess their humanitarian conditions and verify their identities, in preparation for coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency to facilitate voluntary repatriation procedures for those willing to return to their home country. The visit further included the identification of cases involving security restrictions or judicial rulings, with the aim of addressing them in accordance with the applicable legal frameworks and in coordination with the competent authorities. This is to ensure respect for national laws and to enhance cooperation between the two countries in managing migration in an organized and responsible manner.
