Benghazi – March 5, 2026 His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, received at the Ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi His Excellency the Consul General of the Republic of Chad to Libya, Mr. Hassan Ahmed Daiseri, accompanied by the Attaché, Mr. Omar Yousko Togol. The meeting took place within the framework of discussing the arrangements for the opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Chad in the city of Benghazi, for the first time since the independence of the two countries more than seventy years ago. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the organizational and administrative aspects related to completing the procedures for opening the consulate, in a manner that enhances the diplomatic and consular representation of the Republic of Chad in Benghazi. This step is expected to support mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between the two countries across various fields and reflects the shared desire to strengthen their longstanding bilateral relations. His Excellency the Minister affirmed the depth of the fraternal ties between Libya and Chad, stressing the importance of elevating bilateral cooperation to broader levels in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries, enhances stability and regional cooperation, and reinforces Libya’s role as a key player in strengthening regional partnerships. For his part, the Consul General of the Republic of Chad expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception, affirming his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Libya and activating frameworks of joint cooperation. He noted that the opening of the Consulate General in Benghazi represents a strategic step toward enhancing institutional communication and developing cooperation in consular, economic, and social fields, in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples.
