Benghazi – Thursday, 26 February 2026 In a Ramadan atmosphere marked by a spirit of warmth and fraternity, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, hosted a collective Iftar banquet in the city of Benghazi in honor of Their Excellencies the ambassadors and consuls accredited to Libya, members of the Sudanese community, as well as security and military leaders and representatives of foreign communities. The event was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, the Consul General of the Republic of Sudan, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Consul General of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), the Consul General of the Republic of Chad, the Consul General of the State of Palestine, and the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Sweden, in addition to representatives of the Embassy of India and the Embassy of the Philippines. The event was also attended by the Secretary-General of the General Command of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, the Chairman of the Libyan Anti-Corruption Authority, the Head of the Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority, and a number of directors of departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. During the event, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, delivered a speech welcoming the distinguished guests and praising the pivotal role played by diplomatic and consular missions in strengthening bridges of cooperation and fostering a climate of mutual trust between Libya and its regional and international partners. His Excellency emphasized that organizing this Ramadan Iftar reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening human relations alongside official relations, noting that diplomacy is not limited to political work alone, but also extends to social, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions.
