Benghazi – Tuesday, February 24, 2026 His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hweij, chaired today at the Ministry’s headquarters the twenty-third meeting of the National Committee concerned with Community Schools and Foreign Schools, in the presence of the directors of community schools. This meeting comes within the framework of implementing government policies aimed at reinforcing the rule of law and strengthening institutional discipline within the education sector. The meeting was dedicated to following up on the implementation of the measures agreed upon during the committee’s twentieth meeting regarding the regularization of the legal status of community schools, assessing the level of progress achieved in this regard, and discussing mechanisms to complete the required procedures in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. In his opening remarks, His Excellency the Minister emphasized that respecting the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the work of educational institutions is a national obligation that allows no exceptions. He stressed the importance of expediting the settlement of legal statuses in a manner that ensures the stability of the educational process, protects the rights of students and parents, and safeguards the public interest. He also reaffirmed the readiness of the Ministry and the National Committee to provide all necessary administrative facilitation to complete the regularization procedures, setting a deadline of no more than two weeks from the date of this meeting to finalize the required measures. For their part, the directors of community schools expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the National Committee, affirming their full commitment to fulfilling the legal requirements within the specified timeframe, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility in serving the education sector. This meeting comes as part of the ongoing follow-up of the National Committee’s work and reflects the Libyan government’s commitment to regulating the operation of community schools in accordance with clear legal standards, ensuring the smooth continuation of the academic year and strengthening confidence in the educational environment within the State of Libya.
