Benghazi – Tuesday, 17 February 2026 Under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, the Committee for the Regularization of the Status of Sudanese Nationals held its seventh meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting comes within the framework of the government’s efforts to regulate the status of Sudanese citizens residing in Libya through a comprehensive humanitarian and legal approach. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Committee, who opened the session by welcoming the members and commending the efforts exerted by the various concerned entities to support the stability of Sudanese nationals’ conditions. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional coordination to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and their alignment with the government’s directions regarding this humanitarian file. The meeting discussed several organizational and technical aspects related to enhancing the Committee’s mechanisms of work. It was agreed to address procedural challenges that may hinder the implementation of the approved programs and to proceed through parallel implementation tracks aimed at accelerating progress and achieving the set objectives in accordance with a clear action plan based on coordination and integration among the competent authorities. Participants also reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation between subcommittees and field teams, in a manner that contributes to improving the level of services provided to Sudanese nationals and ensuring an effective response to humanitarian, health, and social needs, in compliance with the applicable regulatory and legal standards. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of the Committee recommended holding a coordination meeting during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan to follow up on the latest developments related to the work of the medical teams, in coordination with the relevant subcommittees. This aims to enhance the integration of governmental efforts and ensure the required response through a sustainable institutional work methodology.
