Benghazi – Monday, 16 February 2026 His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, chaired an expanded coordination meeting at the headquarters of the Libyan Authority for Relief and Humanitarian Assistance. The meeting was attended by representatives of the International Islamic Relief Organization, along with the Executive Director of the Khalifa International Award for Charity and Humanitarian Works, Dr. Mohammed Al-Majbari, and the Chairman of the Libyan Authority for Relief and Humanitarian Assistance, Mr. Salem Bouzreida, as well as members of its Board of Directors. The meeting comes within the framework of the Libyan state’s orientation toward strengthening humanitarian governance and consolidating a participatory approach based on integration between national institutions and international partners. This approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian response efforts and reinforce Libya’s position as a responsible regional partner in managing humanitarian crises. Discussions focused on mechanisms to develop joint action in the field of humanitarian relief, emphasizing the importance of unifying efforts, coordinating programs, and exchanging expertise to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches beneficiaries efficiently and transparently, in accordance with internationally recognized humanitarian standards. Participants also stressed the importance of intensifying humanitarian efforts to support the people of the Sudan in light of the current humanitarian challenges. They reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian and relief role, reflecting the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two peoples and embodying Libya’s solidarity-driven responsibility toward its regional environment. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants affirmed their commitment to sustained institutional coordination and the development of strategic partnership mechanisms among all parties, in a manner that strengthens Libya’s active presence within the regional and international humanitarian system and supports stability and development efforts across the region.
