Benghazi – Wednesday, 11 February 2026 In implementation of the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Huweij, the fourth meeting of the Political Departments for the year 2026 was held, chaired by Ambassador Mohamed Amer Al-Zaidi, with the participation of officials from the relevant political departments. The meeting was dedicated to evaluating the implementation level of the approved work plans for 2026 and reviewing the progress made toward the set objectives, in addition to endorsing the minutes of previous meetings, thereby strengthening institutional integration and unifying approaches in managing priority political and diplomatic files. Participants discussed several strategic papers referred by the Minister, including documents submitted by the Department of African Affairs, a paper from the Department of the Americas, as well as a report issued by the Libyan-Sudanese Integration Office, in addition to deliberations on the invitation from the Advisors’ Office regarding the political salon planned to be organized during February. The meeting emphasized the importance of developing diplomatic work mechanisms and enhancing coordination among political departments, in line with Libya’s foreign policy priorities, keeping pace with regional and international developments, and strengthening Libya’s active presence in its regional environment and on the international stage. This meeting is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s vision to modernize diplomatic work tools, improve institutional performance, and consolidate the role of Libyan diplomacy as an effective partner in supporting regional stability and enhancing international cooperation.
