Sebha – Sunday, 8 February 2026 H.E. Dr. Ali Al-Sanousi, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Southern Region, received H.E. Mr. Amadou Mohamed Ousmane, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to the State of Libya, in the presence of Mr. Suleiman Masoud, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Office in Sebha, Mr. Bassem Al-Sowai’i, Director of the General Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with a number of directors of departments and offices at the Diwan. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between the State of Libya and the Republic of Niger, and their shared keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports stability and development in the region. The Ambassador of the Republic of Niger expressed his appreciation for the improvements witnessed in security and stability indicators in the southern region, which contribute to creating a conducive environment for institutional work and development. He also commended the level of cooperation demonstrated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in facilitating procedures related to Nigerien citizens, thereby strengthening bridges of communication and cooperation between the two countries. The meeting also addressed the role played by development institutions in supporting reconstruction projects, rehabilitating infrastructure, and enhancing basic services in southern areas, reflecting positively on efforts to achieve sustainable development and consolidate social and economic stability, in view of the strategic importance of the southern region as a gateway to Africa’s hinterland. For his part, the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Southern Region affirmed the Libyan government’s commitment to developing cooperative relations with the Republic of Niger and enhancing joint coordination across various fields of mutual interest, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and contributes to supporting regional stability. The meeting concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields between the two sides, reflecting the strength of cooperation and friendship between the two countries and their aspiration for further partnership and coordination in the coming phase.
