Sabha – Saturday, 7 February 2026 In implementation of the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huweij, the Director of the Ministry’s Office in Sabha, Mr. Suleiman Masoud, received His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Libya, Mr. Amadou Mohamed Othman, accompanied by the Embassy’s Advisor, Mr. Moussa Taher, in the presence of the Director of the General Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Bassem Al-Swai’i. The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the level of preparedness and the final arrangements related to the opening of the Consulate General of the sisterly Republic of Niger in the city of Sabha. This step reflects the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries and enhances consular cooperation mechanisms that serve mutual interests and contribute to developing coordination and communication channels between the two sides. This step also reflects the noticeable improvement in security and stability levels in the southern regions of Libya, thanks to the efforts of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces and the Libyan Government, which provides a suitable environment for expanding diplomatic and consular representation and strengthening regional partnerships. For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger confirmed that this visit falls within the framework of consolidating diplomatic, economic, commercial, and cultural relations between the two countries, as well as enhancing the provision of consular services to Nigerien citizens residing in the southern cities of Libya. He praised the deep brotherly ties between the two peoples and commended the warm reception and cooperation he received from the relevant Libyan authorities.
