His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Huwaij, received at the Ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Libya, Mr. Amadou Mohamed Ousmane, accompanied by the Embassy’s Counselor, Mr. Moussa Taher, within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to develop Libyan–Nigerien relations. Discussions focused on initiating the completion of arrangements and procedures related to the opening of a Consulate General of the Republic of Niger in the city of Benghazi and another Consulate General in the city of Sabha, following the fulfillment of the required legal and diplomatic procedures and their official approval by the Libyan Government, in addition to the nomination of the accredited consuls by the Government of the Republic of Niger. This direction reflects the shared will of both countries to elevate the level of consular cooperation and enhance coordination mechanisms on issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to the organization of community affairs, addressing migration issues, and developing economic and humanitarian cooperation, in line with the deep historical and geographical ties that bind the two countries. The meeting also provided an opportunity to underscore the importance of strengthening consultation and joint coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern, in a manner that contributes to supporting efforts toward stability and development in the region, and to consolidating the principles of good neighborliness and joint African cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger expressed his sincere appreciation for the facilities provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to accredited diplomatic missions, commending the efforts exerted by the Libyan Government to enhance bilateral cooperation and expand the horizons of partnership between the two countries. For his part, His Excellency the Minister reaffirmed the Libyan Government’s keenness to strengthen cooperation relations with the Republic of Niger, in a way that serves the mutual interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, and contributes to supporting paths of regional and continental cooperation.
