Benghazi | January 20, 2026 The Prime Minister, Dr. Osama Hammad, held a meeting with the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, and the Head of the Emergency and Rapid Response Committee, Major General Faraj Aqaim, to follow up on the latest developments of the weather conditions and their impacts. During the meeting, the committee reviewed field and technical reports, which included a comprehensive assessment of the current and expected weather conditions, the resulting effects and damages, as well as the level of readiness and preparedness of the relevant authorities, along with their plans to deal with the current circumstances and ensure the continuity of essential services. Based on the reports submitted by the committee, the Prime Minister issued a decision to extend the holiday to include Wednesday and Thursday, January 21 and 22, 2026, in the interest of public safety and to avoid risks resulting from weather fluctuations. #Libyan_Government #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_a
